NEWS

Summer is coming to an end, and fire season is upon us. STTS would like to remind everyone how important it is to be prepared should a fire occur in our region.

If you own a horse trailer, be sure to have it's annual checkup before a fire arrives! You can take your trailer to a local trailer repair service to have the tires, brakes and other mechanical features checked and repaired if needed. If you have a water tank in your trailer, refill it with fresh water every couple weeks. Be sure to store an emergency medical kit (for both horses and humans), loading aides like a buggy whip and rope halter with a heavy snapped lead rope, and human breathing masks.

Having a trailer is a big help during an emergency, but if you do not own a trailer, be sure that your horse is an easy loader. Relying on a friendly volunteer to load your horse can be a scary thing if your horse does not load. If you are unsure how to train your horse, give us a call at 619-517-8433 and we can help you. Kim has great experience training horses of all kinds to load quietly with gently methods. She will come to your place for $100 and teach you and your horse the basics.

It's also very important to assure that your horse is properly vaccinated. If an evacuation is required, most situations involve relocating to a large stable with horses from all over the county. This is the perfect place for disease to spread, so its best to always be prepared. Even if your horse is not a show horse, it is still very important to vaccinate.

Silver Dream Pony Farm

Silver Dream Pony Farm has found a new place to raise its ponies! We are very excited about this relocation. The facility was raw and there will be a lot of work to do. The ponies are enjoying the new layout, and its just beautiful out there! Stay tuned for more pix!

Margaret & Monique

Kim standing Monique and Margaret in 2009. This was Monique's first H/J show after her lengthy lay-up and rehab! Kim and Margaret were both so proud of Mo's blue ribbon! Photo by Melinda Kelley.

Thank You to all of Monique and Margaret's Sponsors! Both are doing fantastic now, thanks to everyone's prayers and support! Recently, Monique was acquired by Kim Lenahan and has started permanent residency at STTS! Kim is so excited and happy about this!

Margaret has been enjoying her Andalusian "Capote" on Creek Hollow Ranch. Here is our favorite photo of the two of them. It's great to see her in the saddle again!
